Collections|Michael van der Ham SS 2011

From Alexander McQueen’s and Sophia Kokosalaki’s ateliers, after four seasons of his own collections, Michael van der Ham, dutch fashion designer, deep connoisseur of fabrics and of the art of patchwork, enchanted once and for all with the SS 2011 collection that he presented at last september’s London Fashion Week.
An assemblage of fabrics with almost optical combinations and movements wich make the dress an alive work of art.
Chiffon, silk, jersey and satin have been joined together with needle and thread vortex wich remember a labyrinth.
Wings of fabric arise unexpectedly and uncover hidden imaginaries like in a night dream.
The masterly tailor work allows Michael van der Ham to experiment without the risk to become inelegant, while the knowledge of fabrics and colors allows him to harmonize the dress and to tame the patchwork.
His creations made want to create, to take old fabric remnants, buttons, trimmings and to play with needle and thread.
Those ones are authentic creations, they are examples of a genuine inventiveness, released from maniacal pursuit of trend.
